Replacing an ipod nano 1st generation battery:

1. Using the included screwdriver or other useful toolsbegin to pry open the side of the case, start around the area that lines up with ffwd button. Gently twist the screwdriver and pry up the bottom corner closest to the screwdriver. 

2. Gently pry up each clip along the side case.

3. With the screwdriver wedged inside the case, carefully work your way together with another screwdriver up to the top of the ipod, unclipping the case clips as you go.

4. Make sure to completely pop up each button.

5. Gently insert the tool into the gap below the battery.

6. Carefully lift up the battery.

7. When lifting up the battery please pay attention to the battery connector and remember the orientation of positive and negative terminals.

8. Lower the temperature of the soldering iron and remove the connector.

9. Solder the connector of the new battery to the original orientation and put the battery back to the groove and snap the case back on. Your new battery will need a minimum of four hours of charge before use.
