Make your battery last:

We have all experience those frustrating moments when you PDA or smart phone go dead when in the middle of receiving that all important email or download. A dead battery is one of the most irritating and frustrating problems when you are in business or in need of your devices communication power. We have researched into this problem and have written up some expert tips on how to get more battery life for your device or gadget by following a few simple guides.

Keep the screen blank whenever you can

An LCD screen uses a lot of power when fully illuminated and can drain a batteries life fast. If you set up your device to power down after a minute of dormant activity you will be saving battery power. Many PDAs and smartphone have an option to dim or power off the screen after a certain amount of inactivity. It is also advisable to avoid screensavers.

Turn off your alerts

Extra features such as a vibration alert or push email are very useful but they do not make efficient use of your devices power. Push email will keep your phone active for longer and hence drain more of the battery life, switch it off and let your phone go to standby.

Avoid using the wifi or Bluetooth when not needed

Both of these features use power to constantly try to pick up connections – often when you are not looking to use them. This adds extra drain on the battery and will add to diminished battery performance.

Avoid the GPS

GPS/Sat Nav services utilise a constant satellite signal and will add to power usage when you are not using it. It is a nice toy to show your mates but will hamper power performance. Try to use these feature when you really need them such as when you are actually lost!

Avoid gaming

This is probably the single biggest drain on your power as it uses the full screen lights, processing power and sound. If you are a heavy gamer then you must expect your battery to drain much quicker than normal. Try to avoid applications or games that use lots of processing power.

 Keep a low volume

Each time your phone makes a noise it uses up the battery. Switch off as many alerts as possible and turn down the volume as the louder your phone the more power you are using.
